OVHcloud does not accept cryptocurrency. Its payment documentation lists bank cards, PayPal, SEPA direct debit, a prepaid account and, for OVHcloud France customers, bank transfer; a public request to add crypto was declined in 2023. Meanwhile, OVHcloud raised dedicated-server prices in four steps in 2026: in April, July, August and October.

OVHcloud prices in this article come from its Ireland website, in euros, excluding VAT and without commitment, checked on 15 October 2026.

Does OVHcloud accept Bitcoin or other crypto?

No. OVHcloud’s help page on managing payment methods, updated on 8 October 2026, lets you save two types of payment method, a credit card or a PayPal account, and fund a prepaid account. Its billing FAQ adds SEPA direct debit, where the bank account must belong to the OVHcloud account holder, and bank transfer for customers of OVHcloud France. Cards need 3D Secure, and the cardholder’s details must match the customer account. Neither page mentions cryptocurrency.

The question has been put to OVHcloud in public. In March 2023, a user opened issue #383, “Pay OVH with crypto”, on OVHcloud’s public cloud roadmap on GitHub. On 28 August 2023, OVHcloud replied that “we will not be able to proceed with its implementation at this time” and closed it, adding that it would open a new issue if the decision changed. In October 2026 the issue is still closed and locked, and no new crypto-payment issue has been opened there.

If paying in crypto is the requirement, PowerDedi accepts nothing else: BTC, ETH, XMR, USDT on TRON and SOL, with prices in US dollars, the crypto amount locked when you open the payment, and renewals drawn from an account balance you top up. See how crypto payments work.

OVHcloud’s 2026 price changes

OVHcloud revised its prices twice this year, blaming a shortage of DDR5 memory and NVMe drives driven by AI demand; its August post says DDR5 “now costs six times as much as it did a year ago”. The timeline:

DateWhat changed
5 March 2026First update, effective in April. Depending on configuration, prices tied to RAM and storage “could increase by 15% to 300%” over 2025, while the average increase for infrastructure deployed between 2026 and 2028 is put at 9–11%. Renewals of options are capped at +10% for disks and +15% for RAM. An additional IPv4 address goes from €1.50 to €2.00 a month. Kimsufi and So you Start are excluded.
1 July 2026Memory and storage options on new orders rise: RAM by 68% to 652% (median +127%), storage by 8% to 166% (median +89%).
10–11 August 2026CEO Octave Klaba warns customers on social media; ITPro reports increases of 87% for Game configurations, 49% for Advance, 40% for Scale and up to 59% for High Grade on this year’s hardware. From 11 August, new base prices apply to new orders: GAME-1 goes from €139.99 to €279.99 a month (+100%), GAME-2 from €179.99 to €313.99 (+74%).
1 October 2026Running Gen 2024 and Gen 2026 servers move to the new base price at renewal. Installed RAM rises 20% (Gen 2024) or 40% (Gen 2026), installed storage 10% or 15%. Commitments keep their rate until they end.

OVHcloud’s own example shows the effect on an existing customer: an ADVANCE-1 (Gen 2026) with 128 GB of RAM and 4 × 960 GB NVMe went from €204.99 a month to €289.49 at renewal (+41.2%); ordered new, the same server costs €371.99 (+81.5%). Kimsufi, So you Start, Rise and hardware older than Gen 2024 were left out of the second round. To keep a current rate longer, OVHcloud suggests a prepaid subscription for the period you choose.

Four things to check before ordering from OVHcloud

Setup fees and commitment

Without a commitment, OVHcloud charges a setup fee equal to one month’s rent: €149.99 on a RISE-L, €679.99 on a 2026 Scale-a3, €3,062.99 on an HGR-STOR-2. Its Rise page states that setup is free “for any commitment periods of 12 months or longer”, and the Game page says the same for a year or more. On 15 October 2026, the Game range also showed free setup as a special offer.

Bandwidth

Public bandwidth is unmetered but capped by range: 100 to 500 Mbps on Kimsufi, 250 Mbps to 1 Gbps on So you Start and Rise, 1 Gbps on Game, 3 Gbps on Advance and 5 Gbps on Scale. Moving a Scale server to 10 Gbps adds €500 a month in OVHcloud’s public order catalog; High Grade storage servers start at 10 Gbps. Ingress and egress are unlimited, except on servers in Asia-Pacific regions. For comparison, each PowerDedi server has its own 10 Gbps unmetered port.

Delivery times

Orders pass through a “Confirmation” status, in which OVHcloud’s teams verify them manually on working days, and the next step “may take from a few minutes to several days”, according to its documentation. Estimated delivery depends on the datacenter and the configuration. In OVHcloud’s public availability data on 15 October 2026, the base ADVANCE-4 could be delivered within about an hour in all seven listed datacenters, but most configurations with extra NVMe drives showed 72 hours, and the RISE-L was unavailable in four of six datacenters.

Identity verification

If an order cannot be verified, OVHcloud emails a request for supporting documents. The order validation FAQ on OVHcloud’s US support site shows what such a request contains: a government-issued photo ID, a photo of the card used showing the name and its last four digits, and a photo of yourself holding the ID, to be provided within about 48 hours or the order can expire. The FAQ adds that validation may be requested again on future orders.

On 15 October 2026, OVHcloud was cheaper per month on Kimsufi, So you Start and the RISE-S, roughly level on the RISE-M, and cheaper on the base SCALE-a8, which comes with a twelfth of our RAM. PowerDedi cost less per month in every other row, including the Game, Advance, SCALE-a3 and High Grade servers repriced in August, and without a setup fee. If €10 to €40 a month is the budget, OVHcloud’s Eco ranges are the better deal; our pricing page shows where our catalog starts.

Is there an OVHcloud game server alternative?

OVHcloud’s Game range is purpose-built: Ryzen 7 9800X3D and Ryzen 9 9950X3D processors, Game DDoS Protection with profiles for “35+ games and protected network protocols”, a 99.95% SLA and a 1 Gbps unmetered port, deployable in five regions on two continents. Since 11 August, the GAME-2 costs €313.99 a month with 64 GB of RAM, and the 128 GB option went from €40 to €91 a month in July.

Our Ryzen 9 9950X3D uses the same processor with 192 GB of DDR5, 2 × 3.84 TB NVMe and a 10 Gbps unmetered port for $219 a month, with always-on network DDoS mitigation included. What it doesn’t have: game-specific filtering profiles, a game control panel, or a location other than Amsterdam, Frankfurt, New York and Los Angeles. More on game server hosting.

When OVHcloud is the better choice

  • You need Canada, Australia or India. OVHcloud lists dedicated servers in Beauharnois and Toronto, Vint Hill and Hillsboro, Singapore, Mumbai and Sydney, alongside its European regions. PowerDedi has no location in Canada, Australia or India; ours are listed on our locations page.
  • You need private networking. OVHcloud’s vRack connects servers in a private network with up to 4,000 VLANs, though not on Game servers. PowerDedi has no private network between servers.
  • You need certifications. OVHcloud offers ISO/IEC 27001, 27017, 27018 and 27701, CSA STAR, SOC 1–2 type 1 and HDS for bare metal, as options subject to local availability; its Game page also cites HIPAA and PCI DSS. PowerDedi holds no compliance certifications.
  • Your game needs game-aware filtering. On top of its anti-DDoS infrastructure, the VAC, with over 17 Tbps of global mitigation capacity, OVHcloud adds Game DDoS Protection on Game servers.
  • You pay by card, PayPal or SEPA, or want a 12- or 24-month commitment to waive the setup fee and fix the price.
  • You need the cheapest possible box or many IP addresses. Kimsufi starts at €9.99 a month, and an additional IPv4 address costs €2.00 a month, against $2.50 at PowerDedi.

To be explicit about what PowerDedi does not offer: card, PayPal or bank payments; managed services; private networking such as vRack; locations in Canada, Australia or India; servers with more than one GPU; compliance certifications; and email, phone or chat support. Support is by ticket from the client area, for customers with an active server.

Migrating from OVHcloud: a checklist

  1. Check your renewal date and any commitment. A commitment keeps its rate until it ends, so plan the move around that date.
  2. Take inventory. List services, cron jobs, firewall rules, reverse DNS entries and every IP address, including additional IPs, which stay with OVHcloud.
  3. Replace vRack links. Without a private network, carry traffic between servers over an encrypted tunnel such as WireGuard, and restrict it with firewall rules.
  4. Lower DNS TTLs to about 300 seconds, at least one old TTL period before the switch.
  5. Order and test the new server. Start with our getting started guide, then run iperf3 in both directions between the two servers, as described in testing your server’s network speed.
  6. Copy the data with rsync, once live and once with services stopped; move databases with dumps or replication. For game servers, copy worlds and saves with the server stopped.
    rsync -aHAX --numeric-ids --info=progress2 /srv/ root@203.0.113.10:/srv/
    rsync -aHAX --numeric-ids --delete /srv/ root@203.0.113.10:/srv/
  7. Update IPv6 and reverse DNS for the new addresses: each PowerDedi server has its own routed /64.
  8. Switch DNS, or publish the new address to players, and cancel at OVHcloud once traffic to the old server has stopped.
