Why AMD EPYC servers
What AMD EPYC servers are good at.
Cores for real parallelism48 to 192 cores on the 9004 and 9005 platforms: run hundreds of containers, big CI fleets or a full Proxmox cluster node.
12 memory channels, ECCTwelve DDR5 channels feed the cores, and ECC memory corrects errors before they reach your data.
PCIe 5.0 NVMe128 PCIe 5.0 lanes per socket. Turin configurations ship with Gen5 NVMe drives, up to 4 × 7.68 TB.
Node-readyThe memory, disk layout and clocks that Solana, Ethereum and Bitcoin operators actually ask for.

FAQ
AMD EPYC servers: questions, answered.
Still have a question? Customers with an active server get answers from engineers in a support ticket.
Support ticketsWhat is the difference between EPYC 4005, 9004 and 9005?
The EPYC 4005 series (4585PX) uses the compact AM5 platform: up to 16 cores at up to 5.7 GHz with ECC memory. The 9004 series (Genoa, Zen 4) and 9005 series (Turin, Zen 5) use the SP5 platform with 12 memory channels, 128 PCIe 5.0 lanes and up to 192 cores. The 9965 uses dense Zen 5c cores for maximum core count.
Which EPYC for a Solana validator?
We recommend the EPYC 9355P: 3.55 GHz base clock, 384 GB of ECC memory and Gen5 NVMe. RPC nodes with account indexes need more memory: the EPYC 9555P with 768 GB. Node sizing guide
Can I get more memory or more disks?
The largest configuration is the EPYC 9965, with 1.5 TB of ECC DDR5 and 4 × 7.68 TB of Gen5 NVMe. For more disk space, see the storage servers, up to 528 TB raw.
Are EPYC servers good for Proxmox?
They are ideal: ECC memory, many cores and fast NVMe. Proxmox VE is a one-click install, and each server has a routed /64 IPv6 for your virtual machines. Extra IPv4 addresses cost $2.50 per month each.
