Why PowerDedi

Built for capacity that moves.

  • Low cost per terabyteA fixed monthly price for the whole server, with no per-GB storage, request or retrieval fees.

  • Line-rate transfers88 TB in under a day at 10 Gbps. Restores are limited by your disks, never by a traffic quota.

  • ECC and NVMe cacheECC memory for ZFS and object stores, plus two NVMe drives for metadata, cache or a hot tier.

  • Your stack, your layoutZFS or mdadm, restic, Borg, Proxmox Backup Server, Veeam, Garage, SeaweedFS or MinIO.

RAID 6 across all 24 drives is possible but rebuilds slowly; two groups of 12 are the usual choice. Per usable TB uses the recommended layout.

Cost check

Storing 44 TB: a storage server vs object storage.

Object storage is billed per gigabyte stored and per gigabyte downloaded. A storage server is one flat price, including the traffic to restore it.

Amazon S3 Standard, list price

$1,036/mo

$0.023 per GB-month for 44 TB, plus about $4,055 in egress each time you download it all.

Storage 88 TB, RAID 6 (44 TB usable)

$149/mo

Everything included: the server, the 10 Gbps unmetered port and every restore. Two of them in two cities: $298/mo.

AWS us-east-1 list prices for the first 50 TB, checked September 2026. S3 stores data redundantly across several facilities; a single server does not, so compare like with like and keep a second copy.

FAQ

Storage & backup: questions, answered.

Still have a question? Customers with an active server get answers from engineers in a support ticket.

Support tickets
What happens when a drive fails?

Tell us the drive’s serial number and we replace it, usually within 4 hours for standard parts under our SLA. Your array then rebuilds onto the new drive.

Is a storage server a backup on its own?

Not on its own. A single server can fail as a whole, so keep at least one more copy elsewhere, ideally in another city (the 3-2-1 rule). We do not back up your data.

Can I encrypt everything?

Yes, with LUKS or ZFS native encryption. You hold the keys; unlock remotely through the IPMI / KVM console or dropbear in the initramfs.

Where are storage servers available?

The 88 TB server is in stock in Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Zürich and New York; the 264 TB in Amsterdam, Frankfurt and New York; the 528 TB in Amsterdam and Frankfurt.

Is there a hardware RAID controller?

No. Drives are attached through an HBA so ZFS and mdadm see them directly, which is what modern storage software expects.
