Quick start
A WireGuard server in two minutes.
On Debian 13: install WireGuard, generate keys, enable forwarding and NAT, then add your laptop as a peer. Replace the two placeholders.
apt install -y wireguard nftables
umask 077
wg genkey | tee /etc/wireguard/server.key | wg pubkey > /etc/wireguard/server.pub
echo "net.ipv4.ip_forward=1" > /etc/sysctl.d/99-wg.conf && sysctl --system
cat > /etc/wireguard/wg0.conf <<EOF
[Interface]
Address = 10.8.0.1/24
ListenPort = 51820
PrivateKey = $(cat /etc/wireguard/server.key)
PostUp = nft add table ip wg; nft add chain ip wg nat '{ type nat hook postrouting priority 100; }'; nft add rule ip wg nat oifname "<public-interface>" masquerade
PostDown = nft delete table ip wg
[Peer]
PublicKey = <laptop-public-key>
AllowedIPs = 10.8.0.2/32
EOF
systemctl enable --now wg-quick@wg0
Harden the server first: SSH keys only, a firewall and automatic updates. Secure your server

FAQ
Privacy & VPN: questions, answered.
Still have a question? Customers with an active server get answers from engineers in a support ticket.
Support ticketsCan I run a commercial VPN service?
Yes. You are responsible for your users and must answer the abuse reports we forward about traffic from your servers.
Can I run a Tor relay?
Non-exit relays and bridges are welcome. Exit relays need our prior written approval and a reduced exit policy, and you handle the complaints they attract.
Do you log what I do?
We do not inspect or log the content of your traffic, and we never access your server unless you ask. Our DDoS systems look at traffic volumes and packet rates only.
What happens if you receive a legal request?
We only act on valid orders from competent authorities, and we notify you when we are legally allowed to. We can only hand over what we hold: essentially your email address, billing records and service data.
Which location is the most private?
It depends on who you need protection from. Switzerland has strong data-protection law and sits outside the EU, but no location is beyond the law. Pick the jurisdiction that fits your threat model.
