# IPv4 and IPv6 addresses, included and fairly priced.

Every server includes a dedicated IPv4 address, a routed /64 IPv6 subnet and self-service reverse DNS. Add up to 16 extra IPv4 addresses for $2.50 each per month.

**IP pricing**

- **Dedicated IPv4**: 1 included
- **IPv6**: Routed /64 included
- **Reverse DNS**: Included, self-service
- **Extra IPv4**: $2.50/mo each, up to 16
- **IPv6 /56**: Free on request

## Every IP option, one table.

Extra IPv4 addresses are added at checkout or later from your client area, and billed with your server.

*IP address pricing*

| Item | Included | Price | Notes |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| **IPv4 address** | 1 per server | Included | Dedicated to your server, never shared |
| **Extra IPv4** | — | **$2.50**/mo each | Up to 16 per server; more with written justification |
| **IPv6 /64** | Routed to every server | Included | Use any address, for VMs or containers |
| **IPv6 /56** | — | Free | On request: 256 /64 subnets |
| **Reverse DNS** | IPv4 and IPv6 | Included | Self-service PTR records |

## IPv4 and IPv6, side by side.

**IPv4**

- One dedicated address, configured automatically at install.
- Extra addresses are routed to your server; bind them to your OS, VMs or containers.
- IPv4 is scarce: we price extra addresses at what they cost us to hold and manage, and ask for a justification beyond 16.
- Addresses are released when a server is terminated, after its disks are wiped.

**IPv6**

- A /64 routed to your server, with `fe80::1` as the gateway on the primary interface.
- Routed, not on-link: use any address in the /64 without NDP proxying.
- A /56 (256 subnets) is free on request, for larger virtualization setups.
- Reverse DNS works for IPv6 too. [Configuration guide](https://powerdedi.com/docs/ipv6-configuration)

## Set your own PTR records. Keep a clean name.

Reverse DNS is self-service for every IPv4 and IPv6 address and usually live within minutes. Mail servers need forward-confirmed reverse DNS: the PTR name must resolve back to the same address.

**Reverse DNS**

Set PTR records for every address from the Network tab of your client area, for IPv4 and IPv6 alike. Changes usually propagate within minutes, depending on TTLs.

**Outbound port 25**

Blocked by default to keep our ranges off spam blocklists. Open a ticket to have it opened for a legitimate mail server: we check that reverse DNS, SPF and DKIM are in place, then open it the same day.

**Clean ranges, kept clean**

- Addresses are checked against major blocklists before they are assigned.
- Spam, phishing and attacks are acted on within hours, not weeks.
- Only verified mail servers can send email directly.

## IP addresses, explained.

### How many extra IPv4 addresses can I add?

Up to 16 per server at $2.50 per month each. Larger blocks need a short written justification, following the policies of the regional internet registries.

### Can I bring my own IP addresses (BYOIP)?

Not yet. Announcing customer-owned prefixes is on our roadmap; until then, every address comes from our own ranges.

### Where will my IP address geolocate?

Addresses are registered to the country of the location you choose. Commercial geolocation databases can take a few weeks to catch up after an address moves; open a support ticket if one is wrong.

### Can I move an IP to another server?

Within the same location, yes: ask support and we reassign it. Addresses cannot move between cities, because each location announces its own ranges.

### Why is outbound port 25 blocked?

To protect the reputation of our ranges for everyone. Open a ticket to have it opened for a legitimate mail server; we check that reverse DNS, SPF and DKIM are in place.

### Is IPv6 routed or on-link?

Routed: the whole /64 is routed to your server’s primary address, so you can use any address in it, for containers or virtual machines, without neighbor-discovery tricks.

## One IPv4, a /64 and rDNS on every server.

Add IPv4 addresses at checkout for $2.50 each per month.
